In A Nutshell

In A Nutshell

In A Nutshell: April 2018

written by Megha

April has ended. I have been busy in the last two weeks. Didn’t blog. I moved to a new apartment in last two weeks. And so was busy with setting up the new place. But now I am back. Let’s review what I have been up to this month. For those of you, who are new to my blog, “In a Nutshell” post, briefly describes my progress in whatever I did that month.

In A Nutshell: April 2018

Experiments in Kitchen

Check out my page Experiments in Kitchen which gives a brief introduction to what I am doing in this series and also the posts published so far. This month I published two posts in this series:

  1. Whole Wheat Bread
  2. Mix Dal Using Eight Lentils

Next post in this series will be up this week.

WHOLE WHEAT BREAD

Books

I finished two books in April.

  1. The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks
  2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I will write reviews this month as I didn’t get the chance to do them last month.

Delightfull Discoveries App

For those of you who follow me, might know by now that I am working on an Android App. The app is actually based on this blog. I am updating the progress of the app on my other blog. If you like you can head over to DD Application Daily Progress, to see the updates. This month I didn’t do any update on this project.

Yoga and Meditation

I am doing Yoga with Adrienne’s TRUE: 30 Day Yoga Journey and 30 Day Meditation Challenge by Faith Hunter from DOYOUYOGA.com.

This sums up April for me. What have you been up to this April? Have you written a post like this? Leave a link to that post in the comments. I would love to read them.

In A Nutshell: March 2018

In A Nutshell March 2018 (1)

Another month is ending tomorrow. March has been both an active and a lazy month. I have been lazy these last two weeks. I didn’t post any book reviews in the last two weeks and I didn’t make any progress on my App. On the positive side though, I published one “Experiments in Kitchen” post every week. Let’s review what I have been up to this month. For those of you, who are new to my blog,  an “In a Nutshell” post, briefly describes my progress in whatever I did that month.

In A Nutshell: March 2018

Experiments in Kitchen

Check out my page Experiments in Kitchen which gives a brief introduction to what I am doing in this series and also the posts published so far. This month I published four posts in this series:

  1. Broccoli Tots
  2. Eggless Chocolate Lava Cake
  3. Avocado Chutney
  4. One-Pot Mac ‘N’ Cheese

Next post in this series will be up next week.

BROCCOLI TOTS

Books

I finished two books in March.

  1. Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín
  2. Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez

And wrote the reviews for three books this month.

  1. Three Wishes
  2. The Last Lecture
  3. Brooklyn

I was listening to “Wolf Hall” by Hilary Mantel. Since I was feeling bored listening to it, I decided to skip it for now and listen to some other book. Maybe I won’t ever pick it up again as I don’t feel this book is for me.

Awards

I completed the post for The Liebster Award for which I was nominated last month.

Yoga and Meditation

I completed YogaFix30 – 30 Day Yoga Challenge by Fightmaster Yoga and 30 Day Meditation Challenge by Faith Hunter from DOYOUYOGA.com. Currently, I am deciding on which series to start next.

In A Nutshell February 2018 Books

Today is February 28, last day of February 2018. Another month ends. Let’s review what I have been up to this month. For those of you, who are new to my blog,  an “In a Nutshell” post, briefly describes my progress in whatever I did that month.

In A Nutshell: February 2018

Experiments in Kitchen

Check out my page Experiments in Kitchen which gives a brief introduction to what I am doing in this series and also the posts published so far. This month I published three posts in this series:

  1. Blogging Timeline: Year Two: A post to celebrate my two years blogging anniversary highlighting the highs and lows from last year.

Delightfull Discoveries App

For those of you who follow me, might know by now that I am working on an Android App. The app is actually based on this blog. I am updating the progress of the app on my other blog. If you like you can head over to DD Application Daily Progress, to see the updates. This month I ran into an issue while developing the app and so currently it’s on hold. I have found the solution and would soon update and move on to next step in the app development.

Yoga and Meditation

I completed Yoga with Adrienne’s TRUE: 30 Day Yoga Journey. The next series that I have started is YogaFix30 – 30 Day Yoga Challenge by Fightmaster Yoga. I am currently on Day 16 of this series. This yoga series is slightly faster and tougher than Adrienne’s one. But I am loving it. I tried headstand for the first time and failed.

I have also started a 30 Day Meditation Challenge by Faith Hunter from DOYOUYOGA.com. I am on Day 14 in this one. It is better than the one I was doing using the Headspace app.

Biking

Another activity that I started this month is biking. So far, I have biked on last two weekends on nearby trails.  It’s more tiring than I thought. Especially going uphill. At the starting, I had to walk with the cycle when going uphill. Since last time though, I have been able to bike all the way to the top. I have found that I love coming downhill when the air hits me full force because of the high speed. Its as if I am flying down. I think it’s a reward for the huge effort put in going uphill. Still exploring and enhancing my limits when it comes to biking. Let’s see how far I go this month. The max I biked in a day till now is 15.6 miles. And the total miles I biked this month is 43.9 miles.

bike quote nutshell february 2018

“My two favorite things in life are libraries and bicycles. They both move people forward without wasting anything. The perfect day: riding a bike to the library.”
― Peter Golkin

Facebook Group

This month I joined the Facebook Group, Sharing, Inspiring, Promoting Bloggers by Esme from The Recipe Hunter. It’s a facebook group for bloggers to share their posts and interact, inspire and promote each other. If interested, join the group and meet other great bloggers.

This sums up February for me. What have you been up to this February? Have you written a post like this? Leave a link to that post in the comments. I would love to read them.

In A Nutshell

In A Nutshell: January 2018

written by Megha
In A Nutshell January 2018

Today is January 31, last day of January 2018. The first month of 2018 is over. Although I have never been able to follow up on any monthly series I started in the past, I am giving another try. So at the end of every month, I will write an “In a Nutshell” post, briefly describing my progress in whatever I did that month.

In A Nutshell: January 2018

Last year I published one post per week. And when I was on vacation I lost out on 6 of such weekly posts. At the start of January, I decided to catch up on those 6 posts this month. 4 weekly posts from January and 6 leftover posts sum to a total of 10 posts. This post completes my 10 posts goal for January. Now I can go back to one post per week from February. Maybe I will try to go for 2 posts per week, but that’s subjective to the time I have in that week.

Experiments in Kitchen

I set up the page Experiments in Kitchen which gives a brief introduction to what I am doing in this series and also the posts published so far. This month I published two posts:

  1. Potato Crusted Quiche
  2. Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Next post in this series will be up by the end of this week.

Books

I finished three books in January.

Two audiobooks

  1. Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan
  2. The Unseen World by Liz Moore

One hardcover

  1. The Stranger by Albert Camus

I wrote my reviews on two of them: The stranger and The Unseen World. The Stranger went a bit over my head. It requires a second and a third read for me to fully comprehend what the author was trying to convey through this book. But, there was no such problem with “The Unseen World“, I totally loved it. And I enjoyed Brain on Fire. It is a very interesting and informative memoir. Hope to catch up on its review soon in February.

Awards

I was nominated for three awards this month. I wrote about two of them and will write about the third probably next week. Here are the links to those awards and the bloggers who nominated me. Thanks once again.

  1. One Lovely Blog Award, nominated by Loretta @ LaughingListener
  2. The Sunshine Blogger Award, nominated by Meagen @ QuibblesAndScribbles
  3. The Entertainer Blogger Award, nominated by Kim @ KeepItMindful

In A Nutshell January 2018 - Awards

Other Posts

Some other posts that I published this month which don’t fall into any of the above categories:

  1. 2018 Reading Challenges – I signed up for GoodReads Reading Challenge 2018 and 2018 AudioBook Challenge.
  2. Little Delights in 2017 – I wrote about my happy memories and achievements from 2017.
  3. Leave Me A Link and I’ll Share Your Page!! – Reblog of the post with the same title from Dray @ Dream Big, Dream Often

Blog Stats

A lot of firsts happened this month when it comes to blog stats.

  1. I reached 200 followers on WordPress. Yay! Thank you all for following, liking and commenting.
  2. For the first time, since Delightfull Discoveries creation, I got 1000 views in a month. The highest views in a day ie 81 was on January 25, 2018. It might not be an achievement for a lot, but it is a big one for me. I mean 1000 views in a month from mere 200 a month, that’s good progress.

Delightfull Discoveries App

For those of you who follow me, might know by now that I am working on an Android App. The app is actually based on this blog. I am updating the progress of the app on my other blog. If you like you can head over to DD Application Daily Progress, to see the updates. Since I started the development in the middle of January, I have dedicatedly worked five days on the app. But I am hoping to finish the first version by the end of February.

Yoga

I am on Day 26 of Yoga with Adrienne’s TRUE: 30 Day Yoga Journey. I should have been on Day 28, but missed two days in between. Missing a day or two is okay, as long as I come back to it.

This sums up January for me. What have you been up to this January? Have you written a post like this? Leave a link to that post in the comments. I would love to read them.
